The aim of the project is to help young people in Greece, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Romania and Malta to explore and develop sustainable skills, environmental awareness and teamwork. This will be achieved through a combination of theoretical and practical lessons, as well as interactive activities based on the principles of non-formal education. Cultural evenings will also be included as a way for participants to share their culture, music and food with each other, adding a European dimension to the project.
The main focus of the project is climate change and sustainability. The organisers with the participants hope to strengthen cooperation between the participating countries and inspire the development of new projects on these issues. They also want to promote understanding of the interconnectedness of climate change and the importance of systems thinking to address it.
In addition to raising awareness about climate change, the project aims to support youth participation in global climate action and teach participants about forest protection and the importance of environmental awareness.
The participating organisations are Proutist Universal Malta, AYUNTAMIENTO DE HUERCAL-OVERA, SPORTSROOM and Idee In Movimento. Laconia is a unique island located just 500 metres from the mainland, known for its rare flora and fauna, high dunes and rare sea cedars. The island’s twin beaches, Simos and Sarakinikos, are considered among the best in the Mediterranean. The island also boasts many other natural and cultural attractions, including a sunken Bronze Age city, a protected wetland that is home to rare species of migratory birds and a picturesque bridge leading to the island’s trademark Agios Spyridon. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy on the island, as well as opportunities to experience the local culture through food, music and hospitality.
